The University of Washington ROTC commissioned a portrait of graduate Captain Aaron Blanchard who was KIA in Afghanistan along with his co-pilot 1st Lt. Robert Hess. They were assigned to 2nd Aviation Battalion, 10th Combat Aviation Brigade, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, N.Y.; died April 23 of wounds caused by indirect fire in Pul-E-Alam, Afghanistan.
The client will decide on which of the three sketches they like and then there will be another more detailed drawing submitted for approval. I do not have a preference and like things in all of the drawings but they also can be improved upon. Likeness and detail are not important, only the feel and general direction of the picture.
The first sketch shows them outside of their Apache helicopter after a mission.
The second depicts them preparing for take off and talking to a ground crew member.
The third is Blanchard and Hess flying in Afghanistan.
